A challenge worthy of a Slytherin

“What are you thinking?”

This excellent question is posed to me daily, courtesy of my pops. Over the years, as other people have become familiar with my range of interests, they soon pepper me with the golden question. I love it because I am easily amused by the world around me. I love to laugh, read, think, analyze, experiment, and write. I love learning. Given the spectrum of things I read through out the day, I cannot help but develop some interesting writings prompts. Last week, as I was contemplating future blog posts aimed for my niece and nephew, the following titles and topics came easily to mind.

I wondered how quickly I could write these up. I challenged myself to writing/posting once a day for an entire month. It is the sort of ambitious goal expected of Slytherin folk. So of course, I accepted the challenge and happily schemed at making it possible (e.g. analyze the lyrics to Beyonce's discography with a special focus on her last album... ha ha ha, I'm loving it or picking the right meal to blog about, which is quite the challenge thus far). I will certainly have some posts that will be comprised of probably five pictures, but that is okay. Hopefully it will tell a story. So with this challenge in mind, I will kick start it by sharing important lessons learned from the weekend.  Melodie and Seth take out your crayons and paint brushes to take notes*.

Wisdom to live by...

  • Never go to Korea town by yourself.**
  • If you have to go to Korea town, make sure your car is full of fuel.
  • When you go to Korea town, make sure you have the right address.
  • While in Korea town, don’t be fazed by the dilapidated buildings, worn-off signs to “proceed with caution” or “watch your step” because inside you’ll likely find a surprise of cleanliness. (Somewhat similar to "never judge a book by its cover")
  • Never underestimate the powerful stench of steamed dumplings sitting in a car for two hours.
  • It is okay to bypass the street barriers during a OneDirection concert.***
  • Pasadena police have a healthy sense of humor.
  • A dip in the ocean is always a good idea.
  • Learn to appreciate the difference in snow cone ice versus shaved ice. Give them the same love.

*It is incumbent on their parents to take these notes for them.
