Carmela's: A Pasadena Gem

I love ice cream. I love it for breakfast or dinner. I love it during the warm sunny days of summer or the chill cloudy nights of winter. Or, like today, on a perfect autumn day in sun soaked California.

It should come as no surprise I would one day visit Carmela Ice Cream in Pasadena. Today was that day.

A few posts back, I alluded to an ongoing competition between Minnesota and California. Among the points in favor of California was the food. I was not wrong. The high-end ice cream was delicious.

Carmela's is situated in a pocket of shops with no parking lot for customers. Luckily, my mates and I easily found street parking around the corner. Once we walked inside, we discovered the smell of heaven. Freshly made waffle cones, cupcakes, and cookies filled the air. The flavors of the ice cream were discernible as well-- vanilla, lavender, cucumber, oh my!

We ordered our individual ice creams and ventured outside to delight in the beautiful feelings of joy and gratitude that only ice cream (and snow cones) can induce.
